Criminal Minds
What would you call the the people on criminal minds?
I’m in high school and have to start thinking about what I want to do for college. One of the things I want to do is something like what the people on criminal minds do, but I don’t know what it would be called. I want to know;
-What the major would be
- How many years of school I would have to take
- What schools I could go to
- And what types of jobs I could do after school with that degree.
Any of these answers would be very helpful.
The people on Criminal Minds work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the Behavior Analysis Unit (BAU).
- There really is not one specific major that the FBI requires. There is such a wide range of job possibilities within the Bureau that there is pretty much a job for any particular major. Criminology or Criminal Jusitce and/or psychology degrees would probably be most fitting for that job.
- Again, depends on the major. More schooling obviously looks better, masters, phD, Law School, etc.
- You do not need to go to an Ivy league school to get a job in the FBI, study hard and pick a school based on what you want your major to be.
- There are endless possibilities of what could be done with a criminal justice degree-street cop, investigator, corrections officer, lawyer, FBI agent…the list goes on and on.
Check out fbi.gov if you are truly interested in going federal with a crime-related career. They have lots of information about qualifications, job descriptions, etc. throughout all of the departments of the FBI. Dont be fooled by a TV show however, while Criminal Minds is probably the most accurate and informative of any of the crime dramas out there…it IS television and is greatly exagerated. There really is a BAU in the FBI, but it is not exactly what you see on tv.
